How To Choose My Ski Goggles

HOW TO CHOOSE MY SKI GOGGLES

Ski goggles are an important part of your ski gear and provide essential protection for your eyes in some of the most extreme conditions.

YOU'LL NEED YOUR GOGGLES WHEN THE SUN IS SHINING

Especially when you’re higher up on the mountain as altitude enhances brightness, UV rays are stronger and the snow can reflect sunlight to near blinding status – as well as when it’s snowy and overcast to help you see more clearly.

A good pair of ski goggles will also prevent snow and rain from getting in.

WEATHER AND VISIBILITY

GOGGLES WITH UV PROTECTION

All our ski goggles offer UV protection as standard, so that’s one less thing for you to think about. Then you’ll need to consider the weather conditions you’ll be exposed to on your ski trip – if it’s going to be foggy or snowing heavily i.e. low visibility, you should choose a pair of ski goggles with a clear yellow lens.

If you expect visibility to be good and the sun to be shining, opt for a dark lens. Not sure where you’ll end up? Prepare for a medley of visibilities with interchangeable photochromic and electro photochromic lenses, which become lighter or darker as the light changes.

ANTI-FOG

TO HELP YOU SEE MORE CLEARLY

Decathlon’s roster of ski goggles all come with anti-fog treatment to help you see more clearly on the mountain.

There are three different types of anti-fog levels – the first is fine for beginners or skiers who don’t plan on experiencing weather extremes and usually accompanies a simple lens, the second is what we’d call ‘performance’ level and works via a double insulating lens, and lastly, for more advanced skiers and tougher conditions, is the double ventilated lens.

SIZE

IT'S REALLY SIMPLE

Unlike the rest of your ski gear – the boots, the skis, the helmet – it won’t take long to pick the right size of ski goggles for you.

Basically, size Small is for children or adults with small faces, and size Large is for everyone else. If you’re a glasses wearer, look out for our OTG (Over The Glasses) designs.

Armed with the basics, it’s time to explore our collection of ski goggles for yourself…
